PHILMONT AND DOUBLE H EXPEDITION REGISTRATION FOR 2007

Reservations for year 2007 Philmont Expeditions will be made on the internet during November and December of 2005. We will also be offering expeditions at our newest program, the Double H High Adventure Base, located near Datil, New Mexico. Please review the attached brochures for complete information and attendance requirements. The following information is provided to assist your unit in placing a reservation:

1. Reservation requests will be accepted, via internet, for 12-day Expeditions, 9-day Expeditions, 8-day Expeditions and 7-day Expeditions at Philmont and 7-day Expeditions at the Double H November 7 through December 11.

2. Reservations will not be assigned in the order that registration requests are made. Reservations will be picked randomly by computer at the close of the registration request period beginning December 12th.

3. Units may make only one registration request during this process. However, the request may be made for consideration of multiple arrival dates. A unit will be able to select either the option of a Philmont Expedition or a Double H Expedition. If all spaces are filled at Philmont Scout Ranch and the unit is placed on the Philmont Waiting List, units will have an option for being selected for a Double H experience. Please do not attempt to make duplicate registration requests.

4. A unit representative may place crew reservations only for members of their chartered unit but are not limited to one crew (maximum crew size = 12 participants), however, please be realistic when estimating attendance to avoid unnecessary expense (forfeited fees) and to permit the maximum number of units to make a reservation. Please note formula on worksheet for determining the number of crews you are reserving.

5. A worksheet is provided in order to assist you in collecting the information required to place your reservation request. Please complete the worksheet and have it available when you access the internet. DO NOT MAIL THE WORKSHEET TO PHILMONT.

6. The unit representative may log on to www.advanced-data.com/philmont during your assigned week which corresponds to your region or during the open week. To verify the BSA Region in which your unit is located, please contact your Council Service Center or locate a Regions map at www.bsaregions.com.

Northeast Region November 7-13
Western Region November 14-20
Southern Region November 21-27
Central Region November 28-December 4
Open Week December 5-11

7. The unit representative will create a password to make changes or corrections to the unit reservation request entry either within their assigned week or during the open week. The representative will receive a confirmation e-mail at the conclusion of the request process. Only one record is kept on file for each unit.

8. Once the reservation request process has been completed the computer will randomly select those to receive reservations. Once 2007 reaches capacity, groups will be placed on a waiting list for 2007. Units on the waiting list who have expressed an interest in the Double H will be considered for any available spaces at the Double H.

9. Units with a confirmed 2006 reservation may not place a reservation for 2007 - units may not attend two consecutive seasons. Reservations may not be transferred from one unit to another. Philmont maintains a waiting list and will contact the next available group on the waiting list in the event of a cancellation.

10. After the computer selection process is completed, an e-mail and hard copy will be sent to each unit giving the unit's status. This will take place during the last half of December.

11. A $50 non-refundable deposit, per participant will be due January 31, 2006.

12. Questions about the 2007 reservation process by be directed to Philmont Scout Ranch by e-mail camping@philmontscoutranch.org or by phone 505-376-2281.
