Youth Leader Training Held Formerly known as Brownsea, the Susquehanna Council's National Youth Leader Training Program was held at Camp Karoondinha on August 6th-11th. The week-long program was wildly successful with 19 scouts completing the program. Each graduate entered into a "contract" to complete no less than three leadership service projects. These projects may be service to their troop, their community and to themselves. Many of the scouts committed to providing leadership to our Lodge in their contracts. The course gave the participants the "tools" that they will need to be effective leaders in their troops, youth groups, student councils and careers. For information on the next course please contact Bob Garrett at rgarrett@state.pa.us or susquehannabsa.org Graduates Nineteen
scouts completed the Susquehanna Council's National Youth Leadership
Training Course on August 11th. Seventeen of these scouts are brothers
in our lodge. They are:
Are You a Trustworthy Leader? It's hard to have a healthy team unless the members trust each other and the enterprise, and both of those require trust between the team and its leader. How do you become more trustworthy and in turn a more effective leader? Through Results: being able to deliver on your commitments and fulfill expectations. Through Integrity: having consistent, honest, clear, admirable values and ethics. Through Concern: having the best interests and needs of others in mind as you act. Begin by trusting yourself. Then deliver on your promises to yourself and others and seek to live by the Scout Oath and Law Elections to Be Held at Pow Wow Interested brothers are being recruited to be nominated to serve as Lodge Chief, Treasurer and Secretary. Also, District Chapter Chiefs and Secretaries are needed. To be nominated for any of these positions just contact your district or lodge adviser.
Vigil Nominations Due Do you know someone who's worthy to be nominated for the honor of Vigil? Vigil nominations are due by November 30th. The nominations may be turned into the Council Service Center in Williamsport. The nomination forms are available from your Lodge officers and advisers. You may download a vigil nomination form. Ceremonial Team Members Are Always Needed Mark Beck has called upon all youth Brothers of our Lodge to consider serving on one of the ceremonial teams. Several long-time members will be "aging out" as youth members of the Lodge this year and therefore may not continue to serve on the ceremonial teams. Please contact Mark or any other Lodge officer or adviser to learn more about this opportunity to provide cheerful service to your Lodge. What's Happening? Summer is winding down but there's still lots going on with our Lodge. Take a look: September October November December February March Please mark your calendars with these events because we always look forward to a large turn out and lots of participation. National Order the Arrow Conference Huge
stage shows like the one shown above highlighted the National Order
of the Arrow Conference that was held July 31st through August 3rd at
Michigan State University. Eighteen Woapeu Sisilija Lodge brothers traveled
to East Lancing for NOAC. In addition, nearly a dozen brothers from
our Lodge served on the staff for this year's event. Patch trading,
training sessions and leadership workshops headlined the events for
the conference. However, it was the large stage shows that brought out
the biggest cheers from the crowds in attendance. National Order of
the Arrow Conferences are "must attend" events for scouts
who are looking to get the most out of their scouting careers. The next
NOAC will be held in 2008. Stay tuned for more details about future
national OA activities.
