Friends of Scouting

Quality programs require financial support to provide them for our young people. Many families believe that the Scouting program in the Greater Susquehanna Valley is completely supported by United Ways, local community businesses, activity fees, scout shop sales, and through the individual registration fees and unit dues.

The reality is many of these dollars do not support the council operation directly or are passed through to other organizations or the National Boy Scouts of America Office. This is why we are asking individuals and companies to sponsor youth members in the Scouting program.

Every individual or company who contributes $200 or more to the 2007 Friends of Scouting Campaign will be presented with a 2007 FOS Council Shoulder Patch recognizing the fifth of the twelve points of the Scout Law.

"Courteous" is the fifth in the series of limited edition patches which recognizes those whose contributions cover the cost of one or more youth members in the program. The patch will be presented after an individual completes the payment of their pledge.

It costs the Susquehanna Council, Boy Scouts of America approximately $200 for every youth member in our program.

Every $200 contributed to the Susquehanna Council ensures that another youth benefits from our program.
