2005 will
mark the 75th anniversary of Cub Scouting. The official celebration
begins at the start of the program year in September 2004 and continues
through December 2005
You
will want to put celebration activities on the calendar throughout this
time for both your den and your pack. These are some ways to spark community-wide
interest in the celebrations:
- Plan
a special anniversary celebration for your blue and gold banquet in
February. Arrange for coverage in your local newspapers.
- Include
the 75th anniversary logo on all correspondence or locally made patches.
- Conduct
a community-wide service project or other event to highlight the anniversary
celebration.
The 2004-2005
Cub Scout Program Helps includes anniversary celebration ideas for each
monthly theme. Other resources to help make this event even more special
include:
- Special
75th anniversary awards for individual Cub Scouts, leaders, packs
and families.
- A souvenir
75th anniversary patch
- A new
Cub Scout Outdoor Program Award
